In his early years of practice, 25 years ago, Mr. Albo served as a public defender and later as a prosecutor.  This put him in court almost every day, teaching him powerful trial skills.  Over the years, he has tried civil and criminal cases in numerous Virginia county courts and the Federal District Court of Alexandria.  Mr. Albo has argued cases before the Supreme Court of Virginia, the Court of Appeals of Virginia, and the federal Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.   He currently concentrates his practice in Virginia ABC law, employment law, and civil litigation.

Few are as intimate with Virginia law as Mr. Albo.  As a veteran legislative leader, Mr. Albo has helped write every change to Virginia’s ABC laws for the past 18 years.  Dave authored laws dealing with alternate ways to calculate the food to alcohol ratio for restaurants that serve high end distilled spirits, Sunday sales of alcohol at ABC stores, advertising rules, specialty and banquet license changes, franchise act amendments, and some of the nation’s toughest penalties for drunk driving, just to name a few.

In addition, Mr. Albo has overseen many of the Virginia civil procedure changes since 2006 (e.g. merging law and equity, creating the Bill of Complaint as the primary civil pleading, changing jurisdictional limits of the courts, and overseeing nearly every modern evidentiary law change).  He has also overseen or drafted  most of Virginia’s criminal law changes (e.g. elimination of parole, a massive re-drafting of the DUI laws, and most of Virginia’s anti gang laws.)
